On target with the sports analysis. As someone who worked for 3 of the 5 mentions indirectly, but witnessed in-your-face day to day operations, the spectacle all but collapsed after Covid and the inability to traverse the City without the fear of being a crime victim in some way, shape or form.
I'll accept some responsibility as a Chicago voter... but, in fairness, we haven't exactly had stellar options on the ballot. Again to be fair, when she was running for mayor, Lightfoot didn't look that bad. If she's reelected though, you might want to start looking for "for real" voter fraud. Fool me once...
Give me an option other than bad vs. worse and I promise I'll vote for them. How about founding an Hey Jackass! Party? I'll vote a straight ticket.
I never made it to the register, I was prepping food in the back. Probably a good thing if I didn't qualify for the ticket ... too many left over politicos and vomiting that many times a day just isn't healthy.
I could put up signs on peoples lawns though, because that always makes people want to vote for the candidate. Huh? Where do they come up with this stuff?
To call Lightfoot an admirer of Satan is to call the Grand Canyon a pothole. Lightfoot is to honesty and integrity what Jeffrey Epstein was to child care.
You used to post the CPD murder clearance rates but you do not do that anymore, why? Of course you are spot on with highlighting Lightfoot, Brown, Foxx and Evans (and Pritzker) collective incompetence with crime... any one of them could stop what is happening with encouraging criminals to be criminals. Keep up the good work!
We had a very hard time tracking cleared cases. We'd only count cases as cleared if we had a name of the arrested. Many times, the CPD would say there's been an arrest, but no further info. Plus they'd claim some crazy number of cases as being cleared when their own basic data would say the opposite. In short, we didn't find their numbers to be trustworthy but we knew we were missing quite a few and didn't want to post misleading data eventhough it was correct based on what we knew at the time. In our opinion, it's better to post nothing than to post something that's incomplete or wrong.
Glad to see you folks back in the saddle properly. The honor students have graduated and are now running the zoo. At least one judge in the state doesn’t have his head entirely up his posterior which is why he’s in Kankakee vs a more populous region, and FedEx left 2,000 rds of FMJ ammo on my doorstep last week vs leaving a call tag. All in all 2022 was a cheerful example of why kicking a tiger in the balls is a bad deal tho entertaining for anyone watching and 2023 may well be just as entertaining. I’m sure we’ll get more newspeak where the fuckwit of a President tries to tell us that we’re too stupid to understand inflation or how they caused it, and I’ll still hold that the best disinfectant is 20 foot of rope and 30 foot of tree.
I’m looking forward to getting more engagement and enlightening commentary in the next 12 months. Thanks HJ, great to have you back in the original context!

This city could use an escape from reality now and then, but these teams do not provide such relief.
Sure they do. Oh, you didn't mean comic relief?
You don't have to traverse the city. Chicago criminals deliver now. You don't even have to open your door.

True. Our choices have been either Giant Douche or Turd Sandwich.
Members of the HJ Party were once fast food cashiers, which already makes us more qualified than most in office these days.
