It took nearly seven weeks longer to hit 700 homicides this year vs last year, yet it'll be just the fourth year this century to exceed the 700 mark (2016, 2020 & 2021). It's also the first time Chicago has tallied three consecutive years of 700+ homicides in a row since 1996-1998.
