Carjacking Finals
Because CPD data is delayed by at least seven days, we’ve had to patiently wait for 2022’s final carjacking numbers to be known. The good news is that we recorded 9% fewer carjacking last year. The bad news is that 2022 was the second worst year for carjackings this century and likely ever (we don't have access to pre-2001 data).
The likely reason for not breaking the record was the 4th quarter Kia/Hyundai USB Challenge stealing spree where our ardorable youth figured straight steals were easier than violently-involved carjackings. Motor vehicle theft is not counted as a carjacking, therefore “crime is down”.
Moving on from 2022, it seems as if the kids have gotten bored with run of the mill Kias and want something a little more flashy.
Three juveniles are charged with committing a string of armed carjackings during a spree Friday afternoon in the Gold Coast and West Town, Chicago police said. An 18-year-old man who allegedly ran from one of the hijacked vehicles as police moved in faces a felony gun charge, but he is not accused of carjacking anyone.
The hijackings began when two masked carjackers displayed guns and took control of a woman’s 2017 Porsche Macan at the Marathon service station, 649 North Ashland, around 3 p.m.
The stolen Porsche was then used to
carjack a driver in the 1400 block of North Dearborn around 6:35 p.m.
carjack a man at the Shell station, 1400 West Division, around 6:40 p.m.
carjack a woman of her 2018 Jaguar F-PACE in the 400 block of North Armour around 7 p.m.
With help from the CPD helicopter, Chicago police officers followed the Porsche until it stopped about 30 minutes later in the 300 block of North Leavitt. Four people who fled from the vehicle were arrested. Officers also recovered four weapons, including two found on top of a garage. (full story)
Porsche… Jags… much nicer than some Kia shitbox. Of course, it wouldn’t be Cook County if criminals weren't coddled and supported by our judical and political criminal class:

Clown City Update 🤡
Remember back in September when Texas started bussing illegals migrants to Chicago? The initial busload of 50 shows up and the peacocking starts in earnest.
Not much was said after that first busload because the media stopped talking about it. In any event, the busses kept coming and coming. Word is now there’s over 5,000.
Last week, when word got out that they planned to house them in a shuddered school in Woodlawn, the locals weren’t too happy about it.
After achieving new levels of virtue, it seems as if they don’t want to play anymore and would prefer to just take their ball and go home… at least until after February 28th.
F.U.L.L. is Back
February 28th is the day we get to choose new clowns to run the circus. As such we were reminded to revive our F.U.L.L. tee as a way to show your support at the polls. ShopJackass has this as well as a few other Illinois centric political tees. We're hoping to get a few more out there before the big day.
Thanks to @Purplehip312 on Twitter for crafting such a pretty header image.
If you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading. Our goal is to push out one long form post a week in addition to our regular stats focused posts. Thanks and remember “We don't want nobody nobody sent”.
