Don’t Demonize Weekend #30
A non-demonizable, stress mishandling rundown of all the mostly peaceful, yet sometimes violent and "unacceptable" events in and around Chicago this past week(end).
The latest occupant of the 5th floor of City Hall finally found the key to the storage room where Rahm’s old Weather Modification Device is stored. This tried and true crime-fighting device works every time, however, it only works on the weekend, at night, it’s only good for a few hours at a time and payback is a bitch.

Clown City Update 🤡
Our demonization-free summer hit a snag last night when some excitable youth, unfortunately, made some "silly decisions" and accidentally tripped and fell into an already looted 7-11.

In a surprising turn of events, the CPD actually arrested some of the silly decision-makers.
A large group of young people, mostly juveniles, ripped through the South Loop on Sunday evening, looting a convenience store, storming a Dunkin, and fighting as they ran through the streets. It was the second time in days that groups of teens targeted the area along Roosevelt Road.
Chicago police supervisors, in a departure from previous “large group” situations, encouraged cops to lock people up. They did. A total of 40 people, including 37 juveniles were taken into custody during the incident, according to a CPD spokesperson. Officers seized three firearms from the arrestees.
Cops estimated between 300 and 400 people were in Sunday’s group, which descended on the area after a “trend” announcement circulated on social media. They began arriving by train at the Roosevelt CTA station around 7:30 p.m.
Fights and arrests began soon after that.
Dozens of teens raided the 7-Eleven store at 560 West Grenshaw around 9 p.m. The store was completely trashed. (full story)
Of course, arresting and charging are two different things and we’ll assume the latter will never happen. After all, it’s not their fault.

Another One of Those Things With Many People
You’d be forgiven if you didn’t hear about the mass shooting this weekend where nine women were shot, one fatally, given the Corporate Media Mass Shooting Matrix says this isn’t politically exploitable and therefore can be ignored.
A woman was killed and eight more women wounded at a shooting at a gathering early Sunday in North Lawndale, according to Chicago police.
The nine women were among a group at a gathering shortly before 1 a.m. when a black Jeep pulled up and several gunmen got out of the car and opened fire. The attack happened in the 1500 block of South Keeler Avenue, according to police.
Video of the aftermath showed balloons and decorations for what appeared to be a birthday celebration, according to CBS2-Chicago. Police placed at least 30 evidence markers at the crime scene. (full story)
Some reports are saying it was “only” eight women and one man. Either count has this as the most women shot in a single incident for our data set and it’s also the highest single incident tally of 2023 so far. And by incident, we mean one of those things where a bunch of people… have… something… happen to them.
(No) Memory Lane
It’s hard to believe that it has been nearly three years since this infamous, ReCKleSS! and complete afront to The $cience episode occured.

So much stupidity passed for intelligence and leadership at that time and no one has yet to pay for it much less even apologize.
Wilding Season
If the CPD insists on arresting poor, innocent children for nothing more than some silly decisions, we’ll have to slap a warning our Chicago Wilding Carnival poster.
If you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading. Our goal is to push out one long form post a week in addition to our regular stats focused posts. Thanks and remember “We don't want nobody nobody sent”.
Lower body shots seem disproportionately high with respect to the other areas of the carcass. In your expert opinion do you think “gun weight” is to blame? If so, is anything being done to reduce the burden on shooters? Plastic guns or exercise are two possible initiatives. What are the city officials doing to address?
