Don’t Demonize Weekend #28
A non-demonizable, stress mishandling rundown of all the mostly peaceful, yet sometimes violent and "unacceptable" events in and around Chicago this past weekend.
Manually recording this nonsense everyday can become a bit tedious given how it’s the same. stupid. shit. every. damn. day. As such, we hit the pause button for a bit but now we’re back. Thanks for grabbing the mail, watering the plants and feeding the dog, however we’ll need to have a talk about the rampant demonization that went down while we were out.

Clown City Update 🤡
Recall back around the Memorial Day weekend when a big deal was made about how the yellow-vested “Peacekeepers” were the key to less lead resulting in less dead. Then almost immediately a yellow vest was arrested for beating someone because he “mishandled the stress”. Well, fast forward to this past weekend and it would seem as if some of the vested life-turnarounders make for easily identifiable targets:
Two Chicago men were shot while working as “peacekeepers” in Little Village over the weekend, including one who was shot in the leg, right next to the electronic monitoring bracelet he was wearing for a pending felony gun case. The men were shot about a block from where another peacekeeper allegedly helped beat and rob a motorist in May.
Chicago police had their hands full in Little Village on Friday night, especially considering that a group of peacekeepers was on the street, preventing violence.
First, two men were shot in the 2100 block of South Fairfield just after 10 p.m. While officers were working the crime scene, they reported hearing more than 20 rounds fired nearby. And residents reported gunfire in the 2600 block of West 21st Street around the same time. A Jeep Wrangler sped from the intersection and crashed. No arrests were made.
About 30 minutes later, at about 11:13 p.m., the peacekeepers were shot in the 2600 block of West 23rd Place. (full story)
Eventually, another Peacekeeper will shoot another Peacekeeper, so does it count?
Oh Noes! The Smokes!
While ignoring this nonsense last week, we probably missed some newsworthy items, but we didn’t miss this one. Brandon speaks more about wildfire smoke than lead dust in the air.
We’ll leave it up to Spot to say what many, judging by the like count, were thinking.
In LGB’s defense, at least he kept it Chicago-centric whereas Lori would have tweeted some woke and batshit crazy (we repeat ourselves) screed on how the Canadian wildfires were actually set by MAGA, racist, homophobic, white supremacist thunderstorms for the sole purpose of targeting the south and west sides of the city thousands of miles away. Oh, and she'd probably remind people to wear a mask and get their 15th booster.
Speaking of Peacekeepers
While you’re unlikely to be to targeted in one of these tees, you will look dapper nevertheless.
If you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading. Our goal is to push out one long form post a week in addition to our regular stats focused posts. Thanks and remember “We don't want nobody nobody sent”.
Shooting percentage is in the dumps this month. Any idea what is being done by the city to improve these deplorable numbers?
